Founder and CEO of Hamilton’s Eel Fishery Limited and its divisions including Hamilton’s Fish Farm, Hamilton’s Hop Yard, and Fort View Golf Course, Poudie has a lifelong commitment to growing local business initiatives. He spent his early career working in the scallop and offshore ground-fishing industries in the Bay of Fundy and off the South Shore of Nova Scotia. He has owned and operated Hamilton’s Eel Fishery Limited with the help of friends and family since he obtained a license to harvest American eel in 1994. His passion for rearing trout began with his first small hatchery in Upper Granville in 1995 and expanded upon construction of our current site here in Centrelea. Poudie is a true entrepreneur and has shown his dedication to building the well-being of the local community through his generous and continued support of many local business start-ups.

Gordon ‘Sunny’ White
General Manager / Master of Solutions – Hamilton’s Eel Fishery Limited
Born and raised in the Upper Clements / Annapolis Royal area of Nova Scotia, Sunny is a true local to our area. He spent his early days fishing on his family’s local scalloping boat and working within the Nova Scotia lobster fishery. He joined the Hamilton’s Eel Fishery Limited team in 2000, coming on first as an eel harvester, and eventually taking on its management in 2014. He pairs his fishing experience with a keen eye for efficient production gained from his work pumping out toys (yes, toys!) and furniture in local industries. Sunny has worked extensively in heating and plumbing, making him an incredible asset managing the construction and design of our recirculation aquaculture facility. Sunny is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day functioning of our aquaculture facility and is currently managing the construction of our third building. He also oversees Hamilton’s Hop Yard, located on the same land as our aquaculture buildings. Sunny spends his workdays trying to take everything and nothing at all too seriously. In his free time, you can find him with his friends and family, hunting, fishing, and messing around on his hobby farm.

Mattie Hamilton
Site Manager – Hamilton’s Fish Farm
Mattie brings a lifetime of experience under the Hamilton’s umbrella, having worked in both cranberry and hops production, eel harvesting and sales and now overseeing production at the fish farm. She brings mad skills such as heavy machinery operation (since the age of 13), an understanding of fish health and husbandry, compliance, and crew management. Mattie is responsible for the intricate details of fish production including fish growth & health, monitoring water quality, managing our production team, orders & inventory, record-keeping, CFIA & Fisheries compliance and farm biosecurity. If that’s not enough, she also assists in on-site processing. When she’s not on the farm, Mattie can be found with friends and family, walking her dogs, appreciating local craft breweries and wineries, cracking jokes, and eating good food.

Wesley Hearn
Sales & Processing Manager – Hamilton’s Fish Farm
Wes has been part of the Hamilton’s Eel Fishery Limited family for a while now, with 8 seasons of eel fishing under his belt. He brings a background of hard work and long days, with experience in agricultural feed production & management, heavy machinery operation, warehouse inventory, orchard cultivation, and most recently water & wastewater treatment. Coming on full-time as Sales and Processing Manager at Hamilton’s Fish Farm in 2019, Wes is primarily responsible for grading our fish, processing, client correspondence, and sales—basically making sure our fish make it to your plate. He’s who you’ll contact if you want to purchase our trout! Wes is an avid hunter and fisherman, and in his spare time he can be found squirrelled away at his camp or lost in the woods somewhere teaching survival skills to his children. Fun fact about Wes: as a child, he built and “used” a pair of stilts as high as a house – ask him how that story ends!
